Early Voting Starts Tomorrow in Louisiana
Yes, we're f*cking tired, but we HAVE to Vote NO on all 4 Amendments
We’re f*cking tired. Tired of the chaos. Tired of feeling like nothing will ever change no matter who’s in charge. But here’s the truth: if you don’t like what Trump and the MAGA movement are doing to this country, and if you’re pissed off at Project 2025 and the plan to rip apart everything that helps working people; this is where the fight starts.
President Theodore Roosevelt once said, “The government is us; we are the government, you and I.” He was right. The government isn’t some distant machine. It’s a reflection of us. The people we elect, the policies they pass, the decisions they make; it all comes down to whether or not we show up and make our voices heard.
Right now in Louisiana, the GOP is counting on us to sit this one out. Jeff Landry is counting on the effects of generational voter suppression to pull through for him. They’re hoping you’ll stay home so they can sneak through four amendments that will lock in the Project 2025 agenda; gut our schools, cut healthcare, and give more power to political insiders and big corporations. If we don’t stop them now, they’ll lock in these changes for good.
That’s not just the government doing it to us; that’s us letting it happen. When we don’t vote, when we sit out local elections, when we give in to hopelessness, we hand over our power.
But here’s the thing: we can stop it. We can vote. We can organize. We can shut this down before it’s too late.
Roosevelt made it clear that for a democracy to work, people need to stay involved and have a say — and the biggest threat comes from powerful politicians who try to rig the system for their own benefit.
Early voting starts tomorrow, March 15, and runs through March 22. Election Day is March 29.
Here’s what’s at stake:
Amendment 1 – Letting politicians stack the deck
Amendment 1 is a blatant power grab. It’s about setting up a two-tiered justice system. One where big corporations get special treatment and regular people are left to fend for themselves.
They want to create special courts so they can bypass local judges, especially in cities where judges might actually rule in favor of working people. If you need to take your insurance company to court after a hurricane, don’t expect a fair shake. The politicians backing this amendment want to handpick judges who will protect their corporate donors, not you.
This is straight out of the Project 2025 playbook. Rig the courts, weaken accountability, and give more power to political insiders and corporate donors.
Amendment 2 – The Tax Scam masquerading as a teacher pay raise
Amendment 2 is being marketed as a win for teachers. That’s a lie.
The language of the amendment mentions a “teacher pay raise,” but the truth is more complicated. This isn’t new money for teachers. The amendment simply moves existing funds around without raising overall teacher pay. Meanwhile, it delivers a huge tax cut for millionaires and big corporations.
Louisiana already gives away more in corporate subsidies than any other state ($2,857 per resident). That’s ten times the national average. Over 80% of that comes from the Industrial Tax Exemption Program, the largest corporate subsidy program in the country. While big corporations get these handouts, schools remain underfunded and teachers are still forced to pay out of pocket for basic classroom supplies.
This amendment is about shifting the tax burden from the wealthy to working families. It cuts income taxes for the rich and replaces that lost revenue with higher sales taxes and reduced funding for schools and healthcare.
And guess who’s going to cover that shortfall? You. When the state is broke, your sales taxes will go up while schools and healthcare get gutted.
But it’s even worse than that. This will create a massive budget crisis, and when the money runs out, lawmakers will raid critical funds to fill the gap. And here’s the kicker: once these tax breaks for the rich and big corporations are locked in, we won’t be able to fix it. Our hands will be tied, and working families will be left to pay the price.
Amendment 3 – Sending more kids to adult court
This amendment would give politicians the power to decide which kids under 17 should be tried in adult court.
We know exactly who this will affect the most — poor kids and Black kids. Louisiana already has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world. This amendment would funnel more children into that system, putting them in adult prisons instead of giving them the support and rehabilitation they need.
Amendment 3 will deepen the school-to-prison pipeline and make it even harder for vulnerable communities to break the cycle of poverty and incarceration. It’s cruel and unnecessary. It’s exactly what Project 2025 is designed to do: target marginalized communities and tighten the grip of the prison industrial complex.
Amendment 4 – Rushing judges through the process
This amendment would require that judicial vacancies be filled using the earliest available election date.
On the surface, that might sound reasonable. But the real purpose is to rush the process and allow politicians to sneak in judges loyal to them before the public has a chance to weigh in.
Judicial elections are already low-turnout events. Forcing these elections to happen as quickly as possible will make it easier for insiders to manipulate the outcome and install judges who will protect the political and corporate status quo.
This is part of Project 2025’s plan to consolidate power in the judiciary, rig the system for the wealthy, and weaken accountability.
The Bigger Picture
These amendments are not isolated issues. They are part of Project 2025 — Trump’s plan to restructure the state’s economy and political system in favor of the wealthy and powerful. But this isn’t just about tax cuts and budget cuts. It’s about consolidating power and laying the foundation for authoritarian rule.
Project 2025 is Trump’s blueprint to gut Medicaid, defund public schools, and hand even more power to corporations and political insiders. Louisiana Republicans are laying the groundwork for it right now. They’re slashing funding for schools and healthcare, cutting taxes for the rich, and setting up a system where big business and political donors call the shots.
This is authoritarianism in action. Rigging the courts, gutting the safety net, and leaving working people powerless. If they succeed here, they’ll use this playbook across the country.
Federal cuts are coming too. Trump and the GOP are openly planning to eliminate funding for Medicaid, FEMA, and even the Department of Education under Project 2025. Louisiana relies on federal money for over 40% of its budget. When that funding disappears, the budget hole will be massive — and the people pushing these amendments know that.
This is a coordinated effort to lock in a system that benefits the wealthy and leaves working families with nothing. We have the power to stop it, but that means showing up and voting NO.
We Have a Choice
Roosevelt’s message wasn’t just about government; it was about responsibility. If the government is us, we have the power to stop this. But that means showing up.
Early voting starts Saturday, March 15, and runs through March 22.
Election Day is March 29.
Vote NO on all four amendments. Spread the word. Tell your neighbors. Take your friends to the polls.
